The temple, said to be one of the oldest in the region is popular for its architectural splendour and beauty.

The MLA announced this during an inspection of the temple, recently.

Muniyappa recalled the days he spent during his childhood, when he studied at the Kote Government School at Kote in Shidlaghatta town. He used to frequent the temple along with his friends and play in the premises, he said.

It was sad to note that the temple was now in a dilapidated condition. This was nothing but the degradation of our values and traditions. The temple symbolises Kote’s rich heritage and rituals. The weakening of the structure would only weaken our values and beliefs. Hence, its renovation is must and it should be undertaken as earlier as possible, he said.

Measures should be taken to renovate the temple completely so that the temple gains its lost glory, the MLA said and also promised to personally donate sums towards the temple’s development. Every step should be taken to safeguard the architectural splendour and no harm or damage should be caused to the structures which represent the bygone era, Muniyappa said.

President of the Venugopalaswamy Seva Trust Raghavendra, Secretary Madhu, Dr Sathyanarayan Rao, Anuru Narayanappa, H V Ramakrishnappa, Ramachandra, Superintendent of the Treasury Manjunath, Shettyhalli Ramachandra, Gopalareddy, Shrinath and several others were present on the occasion.
