JD(S) not to contest bypoll

He said the party will not support any candidate in the bypoll. “It will maintain equidistance from the BJP, the Congress and Sriramulu,” he said.

Speaking to mediapersons, he said the elected member will have a short term as the elections to the Assembly are expected to be held any moment. A decision to this effect was take at a meeting of the party’s senior leaders , he added.

The bypoll has been forced on the people. Hence, the JD(S) will not participate in such by-election, the JD(S) leader added.
