Speaking to the reporters here at the Congress Office, Motamma said the entire administrative mechanism in the State has paralysed and the progress in development activities is nil. The BJP leaders are hypocrites who take undue advantage of the public sentiments.

She informed that she held talks with Deputy Commissioner Dr M T Reju, Zilla Panchayat CEO Prabhakar Sharma and Superintendent of Police Dr Y S Ravikumar and was shocked to observe that the fund allotted under natural calamity relief for two years has not been utilised.

“A sum of Rs six crore is in the DC’s account. Both the DC and ZP CEO had their own justifications for not using the funds, however all these clarifications seem to be unreasonable,” she added.

Motamma said “the Nemmadi Kendras are meant to spoil the ‘Nemmadi’ (peace) of the people. Public are harassed at Nemmadi Kendra. There is a hue and cry over the irregularities in distribution of ration cards. The poor are not given the BPL cards while the rich are in possession of it.”

Coming down heavily on the bad condition of roads in the district, Motamma said roads directly reflect the condition of the state.

It, in a way stands as a synonym to development. “Unfortunately, the roads in Vandse area and the stretch extending from Udupi to Karkala are in deplorable condition. The BJP leaders should be ashamed of the development that is taking place in Udupi,” she said adding that Dr V S Acharya should have taken care of proper execution of development work by giving strict guidelines to the officials.

Another issue over which Motamma expressed dissatisfaction was improper distribution of title deeds to the SC and ST community members. She said that the title deeds are not given to the eligible beneficiaries. It is given to those who pressurise the government.

The BJP government is practicing nepotism. The issue of title deeds to SC and ST beneficiaries will be taken up with the Law Secretariat, where the files are left pending, she promised.

Motamma informed that the Congress will come up with a programme to reach out to the public at the booth level and discuss the loopholes in the governance of the BJP government. The Congress will also hold protests across the State against the Government.
