MP engineer facing Lokayukta enquiry promoted twice

Last Updated 20 November 2011, 09:05 IST

As per rules, no employee is considered for promotion if there is any  Lokayukta probe or departmental enquiry going on against him.

A case of alleged corruption in the purchase of cement was registered against the then Executive Engineer R K Soni, alongwith 15 Assistant Engineers including Vinod Kumar Devda of the WRD by the Lokayukta in the year 1997.

However, during the probe, Devda was promoted first as Executive Engineer and later as Superintending Engineer by the department, the RTI activist Manoj Kaushal said.

After getting information about it, he filed a complaint with senior officials of the WRD in this regard questioning how a person against whom probe is on could be promoted.

He said that Lokayukta after completing the probe had sent its enquiry report to the WRD recommending departmental probe against them including Devda.

However, the WRD gave clean chit to all the assistant engineers in this regard, Kaushal alleged.
