Pharmacist hacked to death

Junaid Ahmad, a resident of 1st Cross, KK Lane, Cottonpet, was murdered by Sakriya and Jaffer with whom he had a fight over a petty issue last week.

Ahmad was returning home after closing the store, when the suspects confronted him near Ghousia Sarai on OTC Road and stabbed him in the abdomen and fled around 1.45 am, police said. Junaid bled profusely and died instantly. The post-mortem was conducted at the Victoria Hospital.

Cottonpet Police believe old enmity might have led to the murder. A case has been booked and police are on the lookout for the suspects.

Two found dead

Two persons were found dead in separate incidents on Tuesday morning in the City. A senior clerk at the City Civil Court was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his house in Babusab Palya on Monday night. Balachandra (37) finished supper and retreated to a corner in the house.

He was found dead after some time, police said. Family discord is suspected to be the reason. The post-mortem was conducted at the B R Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital.

In another incident, Kavitha (35) was found dead mysteriously at her residence in Thanisandra on Tuesday morning.

Police said Kavitha went to bed on Monday night and was found dead in the morning with scratch marks on her neck.

Robbed of valuables

Praveen Kumar, a lawyer from Nandini Layout, was robbed of his gold jewellery and Rs 2,000 by three unidentified persons who offered him a lift in their car at Sumanahalli Bus Stop on Monday night.

Kumar was waiting for a bus towards Kanteerava Studio around 9.30 pm, when the suspects came there and offered to drop him.

An unsuspecting Kumar accepted the offer. As the car travelled a short distance, the suspects stopped it, snatched Kumar’s 10-gm gold chain, six-gm gold ring and cash, before kicking him out of the vehicle.

Kamakshipalya police have booked a case.

Subbalakshmi, 65, from Kalappa Block in Basavanagudi, lost her 50-gm gold chain worth
Rs one lakh when two unidentified miscreants arrived on a motorcycle outside her house on the pretext of seeking directions.

They snatched the jewellery from her neck and fled around 9.30 pm on Monday.
The victim has lodged a complaint with the police.
