Food poisoning: 17 students take ill in Arsikere

Children complain of itching and throat infection; out of danger

An official Malegowda said that 136 students of Mududi government school in the taluk had consumed food under mid-day meals scheme as every day, out of which 17 children complained of allergy and throat infection.

The teachers who came to know about this, immediately shifted them to Arsikere hospital for treatment.

The other students are normal and do not have any complaints. It is said that a ‘kesaru dantu’, a type of greens and brinjal were used to prepare sambar on the day, which might have triggered allergic reaction among them, he said.

Ranjitha, Anusha, Hemanth, Umesh, Ramya, Manohar, Shalidi, Lakshmi, Ashwini, Sunil, Vani, Ranjitha L, Priyanka, Preethi, Kavya, Meghankumar, Abhi M D, have been admitted as inpatients for treatment. However, they are said to be out of danger.

MLA K M Shivalingegowda, his wife Pushpa, ZP member Huchchegowda, Congress leader Mallenahalli Shivashankaraswamy, KPCC member Gollarahalli Patel Shivappa, taluk primary school teachers’ association president Girigowda and others visited the hospital and inquired the health of the students.
