Energy dept to fill up 1,243 posts

Speaking to media persons here, he said that the Finance Department had approved for the proposal to recruit 570 assistant engineers (470 electrical, 50 computer science and telecommunication each), 633 junior engineers(533 electrical, 60 computer science, 30 electronics and telecommunication and 10 civil) and 25 assistant accounts officers. The Department of Energy has decided to go for direct recruitment this time and appointments will be made on the basis of merit.

Minister said that Department of Energy will stop appointments on contract basis soon. Department is also contemplating to regularise the service of existing workers who are serving on contract basis, he informed.

SC rejects TN objection

The Supreme Court has not given the stay as sought by by Tamil Nadu against the proposed hydel power project in Shivanasamudra. The Apex court has sought the state’s response and it would file the same. The State had secured Centre’s permission for establishing hydel power project of 345 mw capacity in Shivanasamudra. With the intention to scuttle the project, TN had filed objection against the same.

He blamed JD(S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda responsible for Minister V Somanna’s defeat in Govindraja Nagar segment. He alleged that JD(S) had entered into secret understanding with Congress in the constituency.
