Popular cartoon characters are expected to hop into the City during the fest. Dora, the Explorer is the next attraction and will be in the City on December 17 and 18.

When ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ visited the mall, excited children didn’t miss a chance to get a glimpse to their favourite character and express their affection and admiration.

They danced with SpongeBob and were eager to know about more his friends in the underwater city of ‘Bikini Bottom’. The kids thronged the venue in a large numbers to spend time with the SpongeBob, who is the main character of the longest running television show ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ produced by Nickelodeon.

Actress Harshika Poonacha and model Shrutha Keerthi added extra glamour to the event.

Harshika, who also used to follow SpongeBob, shook a leg with the character for a couple of songs. Shrutha Keerthi, who was present with her child, was thrilled. “I am the only child to my parents hence I have been pampered a lot. I still like the company of kids. As a child, I too used to watch so many cartoons.

Although SpongeBob SquarePants is a sea sponge, his appearance resembles a kitchen sponge. His innocent look and adventurous spirit attract a lot of kids. Today, I saw the love kids have for animated characters,” said Harshika.

 “New Year is celebrated by people from all religions. So, it will be the best occasion to do some shopping for the entire family. A lot of Christmas and New Year sales have been happening in the City,” she said.

Shrutha Keerthi, who also admires the cartoon character, said she was excited to meet SpongeBob and bring her child along. “I frequently come to this mall, especially to buy books. As the cartoon characters will be coming here during weekends, parents can bring their children along,” she said.

‘Garuda Swagath Shopping Fest’ is on till January 1.
