'Tour of Nilgiris' reaches Madikeri

The cyclists will peddle through the hills and valleys of Mysore, Mandya, Kodagu, Kannur, Wayanad and Nilgiris.

“Cycle tour is an initiative to popularize cycling as a safe and enjoyable means of commuting and leisure. The tour will promote cycling as a viable option for daily transportation,”‘ said Sridhar Pabbisetty, co-founder of Ride-A-Cycle Foundation (RACF).The funds raised through the jatha will be used for the welfare of tribal school at Biligirirangana betta, Arohi institute at Uttarkhand and Wayanad Tribal Trust.

As many as six lakh cyclists participated in the rally. The cycles were fitted with GPRS facility, said Srinath. Rallyists from England, Cambodia, Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, and Ahammadabad have taken part.

The jatha left for Kannur from Madikeri on Monday morning. It will cover 860 km.
