Antony for out of court settlement in dam row

Defence Minister A K Antony on Monday said the Mullaperiyar row between Kerala and Tamil Nadu should be settled out of court, adding that it does not imply that he disregards opinion of the courts.

“Even national parties do not have a specific opinion on what the solution in the issue is,” said Antony. The minister pointed out that lakhs of Tamils live and work in Kerala. Similarly  lakhs of Keralites work in Tamil Nadu. Under such circumstances, it is unwise to brew tension, he said.

Antony opined that both Kerala and Tamil Nadu should hold a discussion as the first step towards solving the issue.
