Gowramma award conferred on Geetha Bhave

Gowramma award should not be restricted as a district-level award. It should become a state-level award, said writer Latha Rajashekar.

She was speaking after conferring Gowramma award on writer Geetha Bhave at a programme organised by Kannada Sahitya Parishat and Saraswathi Teachers Training Institute here on Wednesday.

The award was given for Geetha Bhave’s collection of stories ‘Kari Bevina Mara.’
Speaking after receiving the award, Bhave said the award has increased her responsibility. Assistant commissioner M R Ravi inaugurated the programme.

Film festival

Vibha Charitable Trust, information department, Vishnuvardhan Foundation, Karnataka Chalanachithra Academy and Bellimandala Chitra Samaja is organising a film festival at
Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan in Madikeri on December 30. The festival is part of second death anniversary of actor Vishnuvardhan.

Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, Allaranda Vittala Nanjappa said actor Jeffry Chennappa will inaugurate the festival.

A documentary film on Vishnuvardhan will also be screened on the occasion.
 Vishnuvardhan’s debutant film ‘Nagarahaavu’ will be screened at 5.30 pm.
