It would have been a rarest of rare occasions had it occurred in real life. However, when the legends of Kannada literature met at Desi, in Kuvempunagar, in the presence of few more legends in their own chosen fields, it sure created an aura of pride.

After all, it is not everyday that one gets to see aesthetically shot frames of writers, litterateurs of Kannada.

Frames about 45 writers, including those of Jnanapith awardees Kuvempu, Shivarama Karanth, Dr U R Ananthamurthy, Girish Karnad, Dr Chandrashekhar Kambar, welcomed all at Desi, after being shot and framed by photographer A N Mukund.

These pictures completely encapsulate one’s attention with their generous and exclusive use of natural light and expressions that seem life-like. The expo will be on at Desi till January 8.

Speaking after inaugurating the expo, senior lensman K J Somashekhar said: “There are many achievers who do not wish to eat up credit for everything that they do, or attempt to do.

Photographers should focus on such personalities who deserve the credit, instead of focusing on politicians and film actors. For instance, a genius par excellence Hiriyanna who lived in Mysore, lived a life away from the limelight despite his knowledge treasure that he carried.

However, pictures of this great man are not even available today, to be seen by generations ahead,” he lamented. Writer Devanura Mahadeva and others were present on the occasion.
