BU to host French teachers meet

The three-day conference is being organised in association with the Indian Association of Teachers of French (IATF) and will focus on the theme “French at the work-place”.

Dr Anuradha Wagle, President of the IATF said that the conference was an opportunity to channelise the talent for the language and also focus on the development of the language.

“Translation will be a big focus of the conference along with topics such as - French for specific objectives, French as a speciality language and cross-cultural sensitivity,” she said.
Thirty international delegates including teachers and scholars from Canada, Algeria, Taiwan, England, Germany and France are expected to participate. The conference will feature papers presented on topics as varied as translation, interpretation, hospitality, industry, teaching etc.

Besides hosting the conference, the University will also play host to the 34th National Congress of the IATF.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Bangalore University, Dr N Prabhu Dev said: “We have around 10 foreign language courses at our University with over 400 students studying. In fact French is one of our most popular foreign language courses,” he said.
