He pays for good deed

Last Updated 26 August 2009, 19:24 IST

Ironically, victim, Arun Kumar, a security guard, was trying to help Shiva Shanmugam, a Class 6 student of Vigna Mandir Government School, Yeshwanthpur.

Arun was thrashed by the public when Shanmugam said that he was being kidnapped. Even the police were confused and were forced to register a case. A senior police officer later told Deccan Herald,  “At about 10.40 am, Shanmugam was seen loitering near IISc bus stop.

Arun, who happened to see him, enquired as to why he didn't go to school. The boy said that he had to pay a fine for having been absent from school for two days and was afraid to ask his parents for the fine money.”

Arun convinced him and both boarded a BMTC bus. On approaching Nagaland bus stop, the boy cried for help accusing Arun of kidnapping him. The public thrashed Arun and handed him over to the police. However, Arun told the police that the boy created a scene when asked for his father’s contact number. The boy is a resident of Lottegollahalli.

Vidyaranyapura police have handed over the case to Jalahalli station. Even as Arun was being grilled, the boy reached home safely.
