Was Kanthamma, a small-time money-lender, killed by tenant?

The body of the deceased, Kanthamma (60), was found in the drain, with the hands and legs tied. Police said the accused may have been strangled and stabbed to death.

Sources said that Kanthamma had lent Rs 10,000 to one of her tenants Raghu, a mason. Raghu had failed to repay the debt. On Wednesday night, Kanthamma picked up a fight with Raghu, and abused him in public.

Kanthamma was last seen with Raghu’s son Pavan, at 2.30 pm on Wednesday. Meanwhile, her son had lodged a missing complaint. Raghu, his wife Padma and son Pavan are absconding. Police have noticed bloodstains in Raghu's house.

Laptops stolen

Miscreants using duplicate keys decamped with laptops worth Rs 2.5 lakh from a godown in Langford Town in Ashoknagar on Wednesday night. Vijay, the complainant stated that some culprits had entry into his godown and made away with seven branded laptops.

Chain snatched

A woman's gold chain was snatched right in front of her house in Bhavani Nagar, Jnanabharati Layout on Wednesday night. Swetha has stated in her police complaint that her gold chain worth around Rs 65,000 was stolen by unidentified people, outside her house.
