Car driver commits suicide

A car driver allegedly hanged himself to death with a muffler from the ceiling of his house near Diamond District, on Sunday night.

Police gave the name of the dead as Abhishek, 27, a native of Yediyur. His parents had died many years ago and he was staying with one of his relatives and two friends.

When his relative and friends were away on Saturday, Abhishek called up another friend asking him to help get a residential address proof for a new SIM card for his mobile phone.

Police said the friend had told him he would meet him on Monday. But when he arrived at 5:25 am on Monday morning, he found Abhishek hanging from the ceiling. Abhishek had taken to heavy drinking in the past few months, police added.
