Dejected over their unemployed status, no money to spare and unable to go back home, two brothers from Assam tried to commit suicide at the City Railway Station. One of them died.

With hopes of earning a decent living in the IT capital, Ramson Santhanu (20) and Induson Santhanu (19) arrived in Bangalore on January 17.

They booked a room at the Sree Ram Lodge in Kempegowda bus stand area trying their luck in getting employment.

Having completed their diplomas in agriculture and automobile engineering respectively, Ramson and Induson found it difficult to fend for themselves as they were running out of money.

On Saturday, dejected with their failed attempts at getting jobs, the brothers decided to consume rat poison. However, the lodge manager caught them and drove them out.

The lodge management claimed that the brothers  failed to pay the room rent for the stay.

The brothers came to the City Railway station on the pretext of booking return ticket to Assam.

Ramson and Induson went to the railway yard on Goodshed Road and consumed rat poison.

Ramson was the first to consume poison and immediately started vomiting.

Scared at the sight of his brother dying in front of him, Induson cried for help. However, it was too late.

The Railway police have registered a complaint of suicide against the brothers and have informed their parents in Assam.

It is learnt that the father of the brothers works as a junior officer in the Forest Department in Assam.
