University calls

New avenues

As the cut-off marks for admission at Delhi University (DU) touch the sky, students in the City now have a new option to complete their studies from.

The JECRC Foundation which runs the Jaipur Engineering College & Research Centre (JECRC), is now all set to launch its own university–the JECRC University in Ramachandrapuram in Jaipur. It is launching its first session from July and is inviting applications for admissions.

Besides undergraduate and post-graduate courses in multiple streams like: engineering, science, management and law, the university will also offer diplomas and doctoral programmes. Another focus area will be employment oriented vocational courses. New age courses like hotel management, fashion designing and advertising are also on the anvil. Students of JECRC University will also benefit tremendously from its collaboration with the prestigious University of Alabama (UA), USA.

The director of the institute Nitin Kalra says, “Rajasthan has emerged as the most promising state in the field of education. It has the best of teachers and infrastructure and we promise to bring together all of these. Also, we have a very strong research culture and work in close collaboration with the industry. For example, we are the first institution in the country to partner with the Microsoft Innovation Alliance (MIA) which is being run in 128 countries to nurture innovation at the grassroots level.” He concludes, “With the JECRC University, the foundation plans to take the mission of excellence in education and character building to the next level.”
