Alleging that RTC and mutation is not being issued in the taluk office for a week, the farmers and representatives of various associations staged a protest in front of the taluk office on Monday.

Protesters expressed anger about inefficiency of the taluk office staff and said: “Citing reasons like power cut and other problems, the officers at taluk office and staff do not even respond to the problems and are totally neglecting the rural residents.”

“We come from far away places. But the revenue documents and land record issuing offices are closed all the time. When we ask the staff about this, they give lame excuses. When we question their negligence, they stare at us and we have to return empty handed,” said the protesters.

“I had applied to conduct survey of my land in 2007. But till date no one has come to conduct survey. Almost everyday I have been visiting taluk office, but no use. Officers and staff here do not conduct survey nor issue revenue and land records. The residents come here everyday and are forced to return without any work being done,” says N C Nagaraj, farmer from Naduvinahalli in the taluk.

“People come for various works to the taluk office from Muddenahalli, Peresandra, Yaluvalli, Gangarekaluve, Nayanahalli and other places. They try to explain their grievances to the staff here, literally beg the staff to get their work done. But the staff do not respond and they have to return disappointed,” says Venkataraju, a farmer from Yaluvalli.

The farmers entered taluk office, after the stir and asked Tahsildar N Bhaskar about delay in work and negligence towards rural residents.

Speaking to the protesters, Tahsildar said there is delay in issuing land and revenue records due to technical glitches. This problem has been set right on Saturday. Land records will be issued from today. “There is delay in conducting survey as there is scarcity of staff. But recently new survey staff have been appointed and they are being trained.

This problem will also be solved in some days,” he added.

Ramanjaneya of Gangarekaluve, Neelamma of Muddenahalli and others participated in the stir.
