Senior counsel Mukul Rohtagi, appearing in the Supreme Court for Chethana who had moved a Special Leave Petition against the Karnataka HC order, alleged the decision was being taken as her former husband Kumar Jahgirdhar was not cooperating in mediation efforts. Hence, he said Chethana prefers to pursue the custodial battle in the Trial Court.
Jahgirdar’s counsel Prashant Bhushan said he had no objection to the same, a Bench of Justices Tarun Chatterjee and G M Lodha allowed the withdrawal of SLP.
The Apex Court had earlier asked Chethana and her former husband to work out a settlement on shared custody of their 15-year-old daughter.
