Whether it’s office wear, party attire or casual clothing, Cantabil seems to have it all. While its formal line comprises mainly collared shirts and cotton trousers, the brand has a large range of dresses, tunics and T-shirts to select from as well.

The USP of Cantabil is without doubt its versatility. Although the brand began by focussing mainly on formal wear, it now has extensive collections of casual clothing and party wear as well. This, coupled with the affordability of the garments, is what makes the brand so popular.

Sanjay Lohia, Cantabil’s business development manager for the South, says that one of the brand’s strong points is its collection of formal wear for women. “There are very few brands in the City which focus on this. But we have a large collection of formal shirts and trousers for women,” he explains. The shirts come in muted shades, and some have edgy stripes and checks. The trousers are predominantly cotton.

The line of office wear for men isn’t far behind. “We generally follow Italian patterns when it comes to our formal wear, because this is where formal fashion is inspired. The shirts come in a range of striped, checked and plain material, in both soft as well as bright colours. In trousers, we focus more on the slim-fit design. These trousers are slightly more tapered, and are a huge trend in Italy,” explains Sanjay. The store also has a large collection of blazers, some with muted checks and stripes. Matched with a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, they’re a casual yet classy combination, Sanjay maintains.

There’s a huge range of denims here, with jeans and capris for both boys and girls. They come in three different styles — regular, narrow and ultra-narrow, which are extremely skinny jeans. Three-quarter tights in a range of colours are also popular. T-shirts in a variety of bright colours with trendy rips and pleats complete the look.

When it comes to party wear, both boys and girls have a lot to pick from. “We have party shirts for men, which are made of a shiny material. For women, we have tops and long tunics. Our latest collection has dresses in white, in floral and paisley prints,” says Sanjay. Satin tunics, embroidered and embellished dresses are also a hot choice for girls. 
The outfits are priced moderately, and the store has discounts of between twenty to fifty per cent throughout the year.

Ajith, I MSW, Christ University, picked out a formal checked shirt and teamed it with a pair of black slim-fit trousers.

Punchline: “I think this outfit is very classic. The material falls really well, and the checks on the shirt look sophisticated.”

Devavrat Jadeja, I MBA, Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, picked out a pair of blue jeans and a sky blue T-shirt, which he teamed with a black checked blazer.

Anjali, III year, BA, Mount Carmel College, went for a yellow spaghetti and a red sweater, which she paired with a pair of skinny jeans.
