Bus stop to come up near JLN stadium

Last Updated 05 February 2012, 19:04 IST

After 18 months of dilly-dallying, the Delhi government has finally decided not to reconstruct the foot overbridge outside the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Earlier, the Public Works Department had said the foot overbridge would come at the spot where it had collapsed, ahead of Commonwealth games. The contractor was also supposed to bear the cost of rebuilding it.

"We are not going to reconstruct the foot overbridge as a bus stop is likely to come up near the site of the collapsed bridge," a senior Delhi government official said.

The government will allot space at Sunehari Nullah bus parking, adjacent to the site of the collapsed overbridge, for buses under cluster service. Therefore, a bus stop has been proposed there for convenience of commuters of the locality.
