Nepal Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai on Friday said that the Himalayan country needs to take a leaf out of Bihar’s book and learn how an economically backward State can be put on the fast track of development.

Bhattarai said this after inaugurating the three-day ‘Global summit on changing Bihar’ at the Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna on Friday.

“Bihar is a role model for development and social equilibrium,” said Bhattarai, showering encomiums on Nitish for putting a moribund State back on the rails.

Nitish, on his part, dwelt at length how he established the rule of law, and ensured growth with justice.

The jamboree for India Inc had all the big names and experts including Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Dr D Subbarao and Lord Nicholas Stern from London School of Economics.

The summit will be spread over various sessions and workshops, including panel discussions on agriculture, health, industries, urban development, social and physical infrastructures, finance, tourism and education.
