Youth stabs man at marriage procession

A 23-year-old youth has been arrested for stabbing the bridegroom’s cousin during a marriage procession in Sarojini Nagar area of south Delhi, police said on Monday.

Mustafa, a resident of Dwarka Sector 3, was held over a statement by the victim, Green Kumar, 32, a resident of Uttam Nagar, said Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (south) “Mustafa stabbed Green with a knife when he tried to intervene in an argument between two groups in Netaji Nagar on Saturday night,” Sharma added.

Green received deep wounds on his stomach and was immediately rushed to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Trauma Center. His condition is said to be critical.

A case was later registered at Sarojini Nagar police station and an investigation is underway. During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that Mustafa was a notorious robber previously involved in many cases.

Two teams were formed and raids were conducted at several possible hideouts in Delhi in order to apprehend Mustafa. He was finally then arrested from Dwarka. Police are trying to recover the weapon of offence.

According to Sharma, Mustafa was previously arrested in a case of assault in the area of Mahipalpur police station.

“He has been arrested in cases of robbery in 2010 and remained in jail for almost two years till September 2011,” she added.
