JOIN USA newborn baby was found dead in a garbage dump at Bharat Nagar area of north west Delhi on Thursday morning, police said. The initial investigation revealed that the baby was not over two-days-old.
“We had received a call from a man at around 8.30 am reporting that a baby’s body was packed in a bag and dumped in the garbage dump,” a senior police officer said.
The police later confirmed that the body was unclaimed.
They are currently checking the records of nearby hospitals to find details of the deliveries that took place this week.
A case has also been registered at Bharat Nagar police station against unknown persons under section 318 of the Indian Penal Code (concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body).
In a similar incident last month, a newborn baby was found dead in the toilet of Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital in Malviya Nagar on January 18. The hospital authorities had informed police that the baby was found in a bag in a toilet.
