A six-year-old girl was raped after being kidnapped on Friday evening.

The accused, suspected to be a neighbour, then dumped her outside a temple in west Delhi’s Kirti Nagar on Saturday evening.  Her body bore several marks of burn injuries made by a cigarette butt and her head was bleeding.

The incident came to light when the girl was found dumped outside a Shani Temple on Saturday evening. Locals informed police about the incident and she was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. She is identified as the daughter of a 30-year-old man who works in a furniture shop, according to police.

The victim is a class-I student in an MCD school.
‘Went for shopping’ “The girl’s mother told police that lights had gone out on Friday evening. She had sent her daughter to purchase a candle,” police said.

“But the girl did not return. Her parents lodged a missing complaint with Delhi police and searched her in the vicinity but she was not found,” police added.

“On Saturday evening, the girl was seen dumped outside a temple two kilometers away from her house,” police said.

Case registeredAdditional commissioner of police (west), V Renganathan said, “Medical reports confirmed that the girl was raped. We have registered a case of kidnapping and rape in this regard. The accused has been identified as Parshuram.”

It is believed that the rapist wanted to kill the girl to avoid being caught by police.  When the girl was found, there were burn marks on her face, stomach and hands.

The rapist had attacked her head with a hard object, apparently to kill her, before dumping her outside a temple. Doctors said the girl has sustained a fracture on her skull, police said.
