Protest warned against quarrying

While survey number 141 of Kurki hill has gomala (grazing land) land of 270 acres, survey number 41 of Horakere village in Vakkaleri hobli has 60 acres of gomala. Farmers of Kendatti, Suluru, Kurki, Horakere, Chowdadenahalli and Chokkapura are cultivating lands in this part.

However, Suluru Gram Panchayat, taluk administration and senior geologist have permitted two persons from Gujarat to carry quarrying, the district president of Janashakti Ranga, J Shamanna and others have alleged. The quarrying has deeply affected farming activities in the area.

Food and water have become non-available for livestock, a release from the organisation said seeking action within Sep 14. The release warned of staging a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Sep 15 if the issue is not resolves within the deadline set by it.
