The Sunday’s felicitation programme organised by followers of B S Yeddyurappa will be a show of strength for the former chief minister, who is leaving no stone unturned to come back to power.

A huge ‘shamiyana’ has been erected and seating arrangements have been made for 40,000 people at the Nehru Stadium here. Organisers claim that around two lakh followers of Yeddyurappa will witness the felicitation of the leader for his “significant contribution as the chief minister.”

Though BJP leaders supervising the arrangements maintain that the programme is not a show of strength, there is little doubt about that the event is intended to send a strong message to the party high command that Yeddyurappa is still a ‘popular’ leader in the State.

Reliable sources in the BJP say Yeddyurappa may parade MLAs supporting him before BJP National president Nitin Gadkari, if the need arises.

DVS, KSE plan parallel meet

D V Sadananda Gowda and K S Eshwarappa are planning to hold a convention of their own in response to Sunday’s Hubli convention by the loyalists of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

The meet to be organised by Eshwarappa’s loyalists will honour Gowda for taking steps for the welfare of OBCs. The meet is likely to be held in Bijapur or Bagalkot after the budget presentation.
