<p>City Municipal Council yet to provide an electricity pole</p>.<p>The weekly shandy that draws lot of crowds on Thursdays, does not have proper basic facilities. <br /><br />Adjacent to the new bus stand in the town, the shandy is the only major destination for the residents here to purchase fresh vegetables and spinach, grown in surrounding villages. <br /><br />But vendors here have no power facility to conduct the business during nights. Many resort to use petromax and gas lights. <br /><br />The business is hectic during morning, but people, especially, senior citizens, stay on till night, to earn a penny more.<br /><br />No concern<br /><br />Thousands of customers who come to shop during nights curse the authorities concerned for failing to ensure a minimum facility like an electricity pole. <br /><br />Difficulties<br /><br />“We find it difficult to purchase vegetables or grains in the night. There are chances of vendors cheating us,” said a customer, who is regular here. But it is equally challenging to sell too. <br /><br />“We have to depend on mobile phones or candles to make the business. Customers won’t trust us easily, especially during the night. <br /><br />Besides, many try to cheat us by taking more than what they have paid for,” complained a vendor. <br /><br />The CMC is yet to build an exclusive complex for market. As this is being delayed, no measures have been taken to relocate the vendors as well, said S C Chowdappa. <br />But despite odds, the vendors at weekly shandy in Kolar continue to go on with their business without electricity.<br /> </p>
