According to a press release, the work is aimed at transferring technology more farmer-friendly to control the farming field and machineries remotely making use of the existing Global System for Mobile (GSM) network as the back bone of the controlling system.

Currently, the system is configured to monitor the field moisture level, water-level in the tanks, touch sensitive field fence, control the water lifting pump and farm lights, real time video streaming of the field, etc. The system is also flexible to be used to control the electrical appliances and monitor the security systems at homes, offices and apartments with larger service area where the conventional infrared and laser controlled devices suffer from short-service range.

The project was also recognised as one of the best exhibited projects in Pune Engineering College, and received all-round appreciations, the release added.
