Talking to the media, Jayaprada said she thought of committing suicide after “obscene CDs and posters” featuring her were circulated in Rampur, but her family’s support came in handy. Reiterating her allegation against Khan that he conspired with her opponents and “prepared obscene CDs and posters,” Jayaprada expressed confidence that she would emerge victorious at the hustings. Jayaprada said she would not quit politics even if she lost the polls.

Meanwhile, Khan also continued his tirade against Jayaprada. “This is a political drama being played out by film stars. Those in the celluloid world are known to change their colours according to the role they play,” Khan said.

“I have already clarified that I have no role to play in the CD episode. I cannot do such a thing on my mother or sister. How would I have indulged in such a low act against anybody,” he said.

Asking Jayaprada to come clean by revealing the origin of the CDs, he told a news channel: “I have not viewed the CD, nor have the voters of Rampur, the district magistrate or the police. Then who gave her the CD and who made it? Jayaprada should hand over the CD to the police for investigation.”

Noting that his fight within the party was on ideological issues, particularly against bringing in “Babri masjid demolition accused” Kalyan Singh closer to the SP, Khan said there could be differences of opinion within the party, but there was “no fight” among its leaders as projected in the media.

He said he would not tolerate a Muslim demolishing a mosque and that he would “cut off” that Muslim’s hand. “I will not tolerate mixing of religion with politics,” he said.
Asked if SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav was sidelining him, he said the issue would be discussed with the party leader to find a solution. “The issue will be discussed by us. It is between the SP chief and me. We will sort it out,” he said.

To a query on Amar taking over the party, Khan said: “You are equating me with a person, who has no foothold in politics, who had no base of his own or public support.” Attacking Amar and Jayaprada, Khan said his own party leaders were abusing him, calling him names.

The SP founder-member said police had informed him that there were people out to “kill” him and that some underworld men, particularly sharpshooters, were sent to “eliminate” him. The rebel SP leader also made it clear that he would not join either the Congress or the BSP, but would remain in the SP.
