With the arrest of three men, Delhi Police on Friday claimed to have busted a fraud domestic help agency.

Sarfraz Alam, 30, Vikas Pandey, 30, and Jinnatun Khatun, 23, were arrested over a complaint by Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Sarai Rohilla, said I B Rani, deputy commissioner of police (north).

Kuldeep had told police that his daughter Jasmine Kaur had hired two domestic helps after paying Rs 40,000 to Rajiv, owner of ‘Pooja Placement Services’ in Chirag Delhi.

Fled on first day

“However, both domestic help fled on the first day without informing Jasmine. She realised that she had been cheated when repeated telephone calls to the mobile numbers provided by the placement agency went unanswered,” Rani added.

A case of cheating and criminal conspiracy was filed at Sarai Rohilla police station over Kuldeep’s statement and an investigation taken up.

Trio nabbed

On Tuesday, acting on a tip-off, police apprehended Sarfraz, Vikas and Jinnatun from the gate of Oberoi Apartments in Civil Lines.

“The trio had come to Oberoi Apartments to befool another family which had asked for a domestic help,” Rani said.

On sustained interrogation, they told police that they had made use of the huge demand of domestic helps in the national capital region to cheat people.

“As per the plan, domestic helps were sent to clients and soon after collection of demanded service charge, which varied from Rs 20,000 to 30,000, the already briefed domestic helps used to sneak out from the houses,” Rani added.

The mobile numbers and address given to the clients by the gang were always bogus.
