'JD(S) will defeat BJP'

The JD(S) is all set to defeat the BJP in the next assembly election, said JD(S) District President V P Shashidhar.

Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, he said that the BJP leaders in the district who are involved in illegal sand mining are acting like a rogue elephant. Fed up over their behaviour, the people of the district have decided to teach them a lesson in the next election, he said.

Challenging the BJP for alleging him of his involvement in the illegal sand mining, he said let the BJP leaders submit the documents pertaining to his involvement in the mining to the Superintendent of Police, failing which they will have to seek pardon for making defamatory statements.

The JD(S) District Convenor A I Muneer Ahmed flayed the City Municipal Corporation’s decision to close down scrap shops in the city. The CMC’s action of directly closing down the scrap shops, without even warning and penalising them is not justifiable.

Due to the CMC’s act, several shop keepers have come to the streets. The district administration should interfere and allow them to re-open these shops, he said.

Virajpet Town Panchayat member Mathin said that closing down the parking place on the main streets of Virajpet has caused trouble to the general public.
