Aping metro stations outside of India, the BMRCL - as part of its revenue generation plan - has floated tenders inviting “world-class” cafeteria chains to operate counters at two of its key stations on Reach-1––the M G Road station and Baiyyappanahalli station.

According to the tender document, the Corporation wants two counters/stalls each at these stations, of two different coffee chain brands. The licence will be issued to design, develop, operate, and manage the coffee shop(s) at the location(s) for an initial period of two years.

While the counters will be at the two ends of the MG Road station – one at Kumble Circle side and the other at Brigade Road end – they will be situated near the Old Madaras Road side and NGEF side at the Baiyyappanahalli station.

The bidders will have to pay a premium of Rs 10 lakh for shops on MG Road and Rs 8 lakh and Rs 6 lakh for shops at Baiyyappanahalli station. Besides, a Minimum Monthly Guarantee of Rs 1 lakh has been fixed for the MG Road and Rs 80,000 for the Baiyyappanahalli station.

The Metro corporation also plans to have stationery and novelty shops at the key stations. The term “Revenue Share” shall mean an amount equivalent to 20 per cent of the Gross Revenue of the Licencee for a particular month minus KVAT.

Further, the Corporation said: “The Revenue Share shall be applicable in the event the Revenue Share for a particular month exceeds the Minimum Monthly Guarantee, in which case the Licencee shall pay BMRCL the difference between the Revenue Share and the Minimum Monthly Guarantee at the end of the relevant month, along with the Minimum Monthly Guarantee for the following month.”
