For that royal feeling!

Last Updated 06 April 2012, 19:20 IST

The lounges at the Chinnaswamy Stadium have been redone for this year’s IPL. Renovated and well-lit to resemble a party scene, they now have wall-to-wall carpet, repainted walls and ceilings complete with chandeliers.

Most of these lounges have registered bulk booking from corporates, companies and the who’s who of the City. In addition to five star facilities, the spectators at these lounges can help themselves to unlimited booze and choicest of dishes – all exclusive to the lounges.

Metrolife spoke to those who have designed these lounges to understand the difference between one lounge and the other and what they have to offer.

The Black Dog Pavillion has access to the most premier VIP box seats. The guests can also access the premium open bars, gourmet cuisine and sip on cocktails.

“The lounge will have some exclusive music. There will be a premier open bar serving a variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages that will be available throughout the duration of the match along with a five star buffet. Each guest will also be presented with a Royal Challengers Bangalore complimentary gift hamper,” says a source with DNA Networks, in charge of the IPL events.

The Black Dog Corporate Lounge (J) and The Royal Challenge Pavillion (P4/P Executive) are air-conditioned lounges that will have a premier beer bar serving a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and great food to go with it. The live TV feed is an added attraction.

Royal Challenge Executive Lounge (E) provides an excellent view of the west, the square leg as well as the electronic display screen. Royal Challenge Terrace (T) is an open air stand positioned at the southern side of the stadium and is located right above the P2 Pavillion. The Royal Challenge Fan Terrace (N) is on the northern side opposite the P2 stand and offers a straight view of the pitch. “The view of the pitch and the services offered at each of the lounges are different,” explains the source.

What’s also interesting is the menu that’s pretty enticing in each of the lounges. It’s global cuisine at its best. Vijay Malhotra, executive chef of ITC Windsor informs that the menu at each of the lounges will change in keeping with the taste of the visiting team.
“For instance, when it’s the Delhi team, we will dish out food that is Delhi centric, in addition to the local flavours. There will be a few refreshing drinks such as aam panna from Delhi which is raw mangoes mashed to provide a sweet and sour taste,” says Vijay.
Vijay also says that there will be a live cooking session where a chef will dish out pastas, kachori and Bengali chaats... to mention a few.

“The live counters will make whatever the guests want. There will also be local flavours such as murukus, and chaklis.  All this in addition to American hot dogs and burgers being made then and there for the guests,” adds Vijay. The dessert section is no less tempting with an array of dishes such as green apple pie, malpua and kesar badam kheer. Vijay says that there will also be ice cream sundae stations.
