A 23-year-old tantrik was arrested for abducting and killing a vegetable seller at Karawal Nagar in north-east Delhi, police said.
Parvez, a resident of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested from his home town on Wednesday, said Deputy Commissioner of Police S K Jain. “With his arrest, the body of abducted person along with his bike has been recovered,” said Jain.
Police on April 10 received a complaint from Salma, wife of Ishtikar and resident of Karawal Nagar, that her 35-year-old husband was missing of since April 7.
During investigation, police came to know that Ishtikar had left his home on his motorcycle saying he was going to meet Yakub and Parvez in Loni.
“After that when he didn’t come back home, Salma reached Tantrik Parvez and Yakub and enquired about her husband. But both of them could not give any satisfactory reply about his whereabouts,” said Jain.
With this input, police arrested Parvez who confessed of his crime.
“The burnt body of the victim and his motorcycle were recovered,” said Jain.
Parvez told police that he used to work as a painter, but later he started the work of a tantrik. He opened his office at Indrapuri in Loni and met Ishtikar through Yakub. He took money from the victim on the pretext of making him richer and for which he also chanted some mantras.
“After sometime, when the victim felt that he had been cheated, he threatened to take the matter to the police. Due to this both Parvez and Yakub got disturbed. Hence, they hatched a plan to eliminate Ishtikar,” said Jain.
On April 7, Parvez called the victim to come to his office and when he reached there, Parvez and Yakub served him alcohol laced with something. After consuming it, Ishtikar became unconscious.
They took Ishtikar to a deserted spot, poured petrol on him and burnt him, according to police.
Yakub is on the run.
