Kiran Reddy blames the stars for 'jinxed' tenure

Last Updated 16 April 2012, 18:16 IST

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday startled everyone by declaring that Congress leaders were conspiring to topple his government.

In a freewheeling public speech at the inauguration of “Praja Patham,”  the month-long mass contact programme aimed at taking administration to the doorstep of the people, Reddy said, it was perhaps the “inauspicious muhurtam,” of his swearing in on November 25, 2010, at 1:07pm that his term has been jinxed.

“Ever since I took over, I have faced bypolls every third month, two rounds of junior doctors agitations, no confidence emotion, resignation of Congress MLAs and MPs, one 42-day strike by Telangana employees, textiles traders, jewelers strike, NREGA workers strike and singareni collieries strike,” Reddy said.

During the launch of the second edition of “Praja Patham” at Nakkapally in Visakhapatnam district, the chief minister said: “It is ironical that Congressmen were vying to bring the government and divide the state.”
