Agri dept demonstrates new paddy transplantation machine

Last Updated 13 September 2009, 17:12 IST

The demonstration programme was organised by the department to create awareness on the new transplantation machine, which is being distributed to farmers at a subsidised rate through Athma Scheme. A subsidy of Rs 60,000 will be given to farmers, who purchase the transplantation machine worth Rs 2.60 lakh under the scheme. The machine will serve predominantly in situations of shortage of labourers. It will also cut the cost of production, since it requires less manpower.

While manual cultivation requires 25-30 kilograms of seeds for an acre land, machine uses only 8-10 kilograms of seeds. Similarly, it requires less space and manpower while using the machine. An experienced driver and a helper can complete the physical labour of 12 labourers in three hours using only 2.5 litres of petrol. Since it is more scientific than traditional methods, there will be less adverse results and moreover there will be about 20 -30 percent more yield. Farmers can contact 08266-220269 or 9449065314 for more details.
