The High Court of Karnataka has ordered notice to the Central Censor Board in connection with a petition filed against the screening of the Kannada film ‘Katariveera Surasundaraangi.’

Justice Mohan Shantanagowdar has ordered the notice.

The petitioners Nagaraja Naidu and others had moved the High Court stating that several scenes in the film hurt the sentiments of Hindus.

“In some of the scenes, the hero uses foul words against gods like Yama, Chitragupta and saptharishis, who are worshiped by Hindus,” counsel for the petitioners Prasanna Deshpande said.

If the screening of the movie continues, the petitioners said it would have a cascading effect.

It was also against the freedom of religion guaranteed under the Constitution of India, the petitioners added.
