Aided PU colleges, which were miffed with the government for sending a circular asking them to reimburse the fee collected from students, sent an estimated fee proposal to the government on Wednesday.

In the proposal, the colleges have estimated the fee per student as Rs 1,999, excluding the salaries of the lecturers, said Panduranga Shetty, president of Private College Managements’ Association.

The aided colleges have requested the government to fill all the vacant lecturer posts before the beginning of the academic year, in the third week of June. “If the government can appoint lecturers and pay their salaries, we can function by collecting Rs 1,999 per student,” Shetty said. He added that aided colleges were awaiting fee specifications from the government to proceed with the admissions.

A week ago, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri,, who had assured to sort out the matter with the private college managements, had asked the managements to send an estimated fee proposal to the government based on which the fee could be fixed.
