The City is all set to welcome Rahul Gandhi on Saturday. The Congress scion will participate in the Indian Youth Congress national executive meeting and later address a party workers’ convention at Nehru Stadium.

All roads leading to the stadium from the airport are adorned with buntings, party flags and huge cutouts and posters of Rahul Gandhi.

The City will simultaneously host the national executive meeting of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) and the Indian Youth Congress (IYC), the party’s frontal organisations.

Schedule

Rahul will arrive in a special flight from New Delhi at around 10:30 am and attend the NSUI and IYC meetings, separately. At 3:30 pm, he will participate in the Congress workers’ convention. Only a few select leaders will share the dais with the Congress general secretary.

Around 1,500 police personnel, including 10 KSRP platoons and 10 CAR battalions, have been deployed in the City. Closed-circuit cameras have been fixed at 52 sensitive places.

Officers of the Special Protection Group, who arrived three days ago, are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the safety of the Congress leader.
