44-year-old wanted gangster lands in net

A 44-year-old man, wanted in several murder and robbery cases in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested from south east Delhi, police said.

Ravi Prakash, from Muzaffarnagar was arrested from a guest house in Chitranjan Park on Saturday, said Additional Commissioner of Police (south east) Ajay Chaudhry.

The special staff of south east Delhi received an input that a notorious gangster of western Uttar Pradesh, who has been previously involved in many incidents of murder and dacoity, is residing in Chitranjan Park.

Police conducted a raid at a guest house and arrested him. During interrogation, Ravi Prakash told police that he was involved in cases of murder, robbery, violation of the arms act and attempt to murder.

“He also confessed his involvement in famous triple murder case of south Delhi. A non-bailable warrant has also been issued against him in a murder case of Sadar Bazar police station in Meerut,” said Rajesh Kumar, Special Staff Inspector. 

Ravi Prakash began criminal activities in 1992 when he murdered an advocate at Civil Lines in UP.  In 1995, he was arrested in murder case of a judicial officer in Bareilly. He was the main accused in 1996 famous triple murder case of south Delhi. He was acquitted by trial court in the case.

“An MCD contractor allegedly hired Prakash and others to kill Personal Point Fitness Centre head, Sunil Kaul and two of his women employees, Sujata Shah and Deepa Gupta,” said Kumar.
