Villagers will not be evicted: DC

Addressing a news conference here on Wednesday, the DC said that he, along with other senior officers, met the villagers and discussed the problems. In fact, 14 houses need to be acquired for the airport expansion works. Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board, Bangalore has served notices to those residents without bringing to the notice of Mysore district administration. In the wake of this, the district administration has decided to deal the issue on an humanitarian grounds. Accordingly, those families would not be evicted till they are given Ashraya houses in the nearby area along with the compensation fixed by the government for the acquisition of land. Manivannan said that the villagers were happy with the district administration’s offer and have extended their full co-operation for the inauguration of new airport mostly on September 21 or 22.
