However, the Council has rejected other 25 proposals for new affiliation as per the recommendations of the Local Inquiry Committees (LIC).

Addressing the media, BU Vice Chancellor Prof N Prabhudev said that the varsity will ensure that students who have scored average and above pass percentage too will be admitted. He said that two new colleges will be either set up or existing government colleges will be upgraded to ensure that such students get admission to courses of their choice.

“The four-year BSc degree will be introduced in these university colleges where students will be get good education. These colleges will have the best of facilities, infrastructure, scholarships and faculty made available for quality education” said Prabhudev.

The VC said that Syed Jamal has been appointed as the new special officer to examination and evaluation, and he will have the authority to provide provisional certificates or marksheets to students. The special officer will look after the conduct of examinations, evaluation and announcement of results on time in addition to issuing provisional degree certificates. Prof Prabhudev pointed out that BEd and LLB  results will be announced on June 1.  He also said that a chief superintendent will be appointed to monitor and coordinate the university examinations.

The indignant behaviour of Munireddy, Principal, Government Law College, Kolar  over the non cooperation with LIC members for renewal of affiliation was also discussed. The  VC stated that action will be initiated against him.

As per the LIC report submitted to the BU registrar, the principal directed the committee chairman Dr H T Rathod and three members to write whatever they want in the final report. The LIC members alleged that the principal had failed to submit a report over the facilities available in the college before May 5. However the Council agreed to continue the college affiliation.

Prabhudev said, “I will call a meeting of all elected representatives of Kolar over upgrading the facilities  there. I want to strengthen the Kolar study centre,” he added.

Principals’ meeting

About 400 principals of affiliated colleges  representing the faculties of arts, science, education and law met for two days from May 12  to discuss the measures required to resolve various issues. The outcome of the meeting was to simplify the admission process and the approval for admissions to be cleared two months before the commencement of the examination. Completion of the pending valuation or announcement of results within a short span of time were amongst others.

The principals have also agreed to depute teachers for examination work whenever required by the varsity. It also decided that strict action should be initiated against colleges which fail to comply with valuation work . As per the decision taken, the colleges are instructed to submit Internal Assessment marks either by e-mail or OMR sheets, a week prior to the commencement of examination. The principals have also agreed to conduct the odd semester examinations by the colleges and even semesters examinations by the university.
