Cop attacked, impounded bike seized

A Delhi Traffic Police constable was bashed up by three men who seized their motorcycle that the cop had impounded for lack of papers at Saket in south Delhi, police said.

Constable Suresh Singh, 28, who works with Mehrauli traffic circle in Sadik Nagar, was attacked by Lakshman and his two friends around 10:15 pm on Monday near Saket Metro station.

Singh along with his other colleagues was deputed at MB Road near Asian market for  checking drunk-drivers.


During the check, Lakshman’s bike was challaned and seized after he failed to produce proper documents for his vehicle. Singh’s senior official then told him to submit the bike at Lado Sarai traffic office.

When Singh reached Saket Metro station on Lakshman’s bike, the accused came from behind and asked him to stop.


“When he did not pay heed to their signal, they hit him with their helmet,” said a police officer.

Singh lost control and fell on road. Then the accused fled with their bike.

Singh was later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Doctors in his medical report, confirmed that the constable was attacked on his head with a heavy object, said the officer.


Police said Lakshman lives in Madangir, but his other two friends are unidentified.
A case of assault on a police officer on duty against three people were registered at Saket police station on Tuesday.
