RTE: KUSMA gets support

Last Updated 26 June 2012, 21:36 IST

The Karnataka Private School Management Federation (KPSMF) has now declared that they will support the Karnataka Unaided School Management Association (KUSMA) in the closure of schools between July 16 and July 22, if the government fails to discuss the implications of the 25 per cent reservation provision under the Right to Education Act (RTE).

At a meeting held on Tuesday, the KPSMF demanded that the government convene a meeting of the school associations across the State within July-first week, failing which all the schools under the association would support KUSMA.

“The government is trying to implement the Act in haste. It’s not just the definition of ‘minority’ that needs to be taken care of by the government, there are other issues in the implementation process.

“The government had earlier promised that it would address the concerns of schools. However, it went back on its word,” said Shashi Kumar,  a KPSMF member.
