Qureshi wins 200M to complete sprint double

Patiala: Mohd Abdul Najeeb Qureshi clinched his second gold by winning the 200M on the second and final day of the National Sprints meet here on Saturday. Qureshi, who had won the 100M gold on Friday, clinched the 200 in 21.74 seconds. The silver was won by S Arunjith (21.74) while Amiya Kumar Mallick (21.90) bagged the bronze.

S K Mortaza of Bengal edged V B Bineesh of Southern Railway to win the men’s 400M gold in 46.72 seconds. Bineesh clocked 46.96 while K M Binu timed 47.31 for the bronze.

Mandeep Kaur claimed the women’s 400 in 53.92 seconds, ahead of Manjeet Kaur (54.63).

Punjab’s Navpreet Kaur won the women’s 200M in 25.49 seconds. Nidhi K Singh, the 100M gold winner, settled for the silver in 25.82 ahead of Alka Rani of UP (25.89s).
