The Vokkaligara Sangha on Tuesday, decided to hold a series of protests, including a Bangalore bandh, if the BJP fails to rehabilitate DV Sadananada Gowda after his resignation as the chief minister.

The decision was taken at a meeting of representatives of Vokkaligas held at Adichunchanagiri Mutt.

“We are hoping that the party will give a suitable position to Gowda. If not, the Sangha will stage a series of protests, including Bangalore bundh,” Sangha president Kenchappa Gowda said.

The protests have already begun from Monday and the community leaders will meet again on Wednesday and take an appropriate decision based on how the BJP high command reacts to the demand, he added.

Meanwhile, a protest rally led by Nanjavadhoota Swami of Pattanayakanahalli was taken out from the Vokkaliga Sangha office to Town Hall on Tuesday.

He said all religious leaders of Vokkaliga community have opposed the ouster of Sadananda Gowda and added that he should not resign from his post till a suitable position is given.

“The BJP should not test the patience of the Vokkaliga community. So far, we have only expressed our feelings peacefully. We will be forced to stage a protest if injustice is meted out to the community,” he warned.

A protest was staged  in front of Hotel Capitol where the BJP legislature meeting was taking place.
