Santosh’s second-half goal helped ADE register a 1-0 victory over Controllerate of Inspection and Electronics (CIL) in the BDFA Super Division league at the Bangalore Football stadium on Wednesday.

ADE thus ended their campaign on a high note tallying 17 points from nine matches while denting CIL’s hopes of staying in the Super Division. CIL, who have seven points from eight games, now face a must win situation against a strong MEG side two weeks from now.

Anything less than a win will relegate CIL and Students Union, who finished their league engagements with nine points from as many games, remain safe.

Although the first half was goalless, both teams came close on a few occasions. ADE had their opportunity in the 18th minute but Manivannan smashed a shot wide off a Praveen Kumar pass.
CIL thought they had their first goal with Enian’s piledriver in the 20th minute but the shot was brilliantly saved by ADE custodian Mark Mascarenhas.

ADE supporters were on their feet again in the 33rd minute when Elangovan slammed a shot but CIL custodian Chand Pasha was alert to punch it away.

The session concluded dramatically when CIL’s Vijay was red-carded for a reckless tackle on ADE’s Sridhar in the second minute of added time.

On resumption, Santosh struck the opening goal when he made a tap-in when a Manivannan shot ricocheted off Chand Pasha in the 49th minute.

In the 71st minute, ADE brought in Stephen Raj for Ramesh and that got them close to a second goal. The attacking Stephen’s booming shot in the 76th minute resulted in Pasha fumbling again but Parthiban’s shot past Pasha was signalled off-side.

ADE retained the lion’s share of possession in the last 14 minutes as CIL gave up without a fight.
Matches rescheduled

There will be no match on Thursday as the match between CIL and ADE was played on Wednesday. The rescheduling has been done since ASC, who were scheduled to play KSP on the day, were not available on account of their Durand Cup qualifying round commitments that will conclude on Thursday.
