<p>Congress legislator D K Shivakumar, who is facing charges of illegal conversion and denotification of land, applied for anticipatory bail in the Special Lokayukta Court on Friday. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The matter has been posted to July 16 with a direction to Lokayukta special public prosecutor to file objections.<br /><br />The Lokayukta Court on July 5 issued summons to Shivakumar and others including former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and Girish Purvankara of Purvankara Builders to appear on August 2, following investigations into a private complaint filed by T J Abraham and Kabbalegowda. <br /><br />D K Shivakumar is charged with illegal conversion and denotification of 4.1 acres of land in Benniganahalli on the outskirts of Bangalore. <br /><br />At the time of conversion of land and the agreement with Purvankara builders, D K Shivakumar was minister for Urban Development.<br /><br /> He also entered into a joint development agreement with Purvankara builders for the construction of an apartment complex even before the land was denotified, according to the complaint.</p>
